corinthians block

A Brand New Typeface for this new age of Imperialism.
This is the birth of a modern slab sans-serif.
Drawn from a Grid and Engineered as were the Roads of Rome,
I give you Corinthians Block
.

ew for the Masses. A structural strength usually reserved for Architecture brought into the realm of Typography and the written word. This is Corinthians Block. A sans-serif Display face capable of expressing the Union of a Nation + the Division of a State. These letter forms would hold well Pressed in Metal, Burned in Wood, or Inked on Skin. No Need for Delicacy. I would, in hindsight, pay homage to one of my favorite typefaces: Citizen by the famed Czech-born, Emigre co-founder Zuzana Licko. The angular construction of the strokes were meant to embrace the progression of type replication techniques - Inspiration was drawn from the bit-mapped letter forms which initially approximated their hand drawn antecedents. The Citizen typeface - Designed in 1986 - is timeless and of great relevance today. Corinthians Block will have to find it's own life and relevance.

This new Vibrancy is born of process.
Let Corinthians Block be your voice. We speak the language of colour
.

Currently this Typeface is being exclusively used by The Royal Magazine .
The above example is from a Layout done for Puma Mihara in issue 8
.
