More than just a typeface, Civilianaire promises to be the beginning of a critical conversion. Alluding to the differences between War-Time and Civilian Economies, this typeface intends to convey the nature of both the populous and nation-state. In this, the year of Our Lord MMV, a sign of the coming Rapture hit Harajuku, Tokyo with a vengeance. I was honored to debut a new directive in my ongoing study of calligraphic + typographic design. A new language was given birth. A new prayer was humbly offered to the saviour. There is a great deal of spirituality in the written word. The letter forms transcend the flaws of our human experience. It is with these words in mind that this exhibition began. My thanks and praise for the participation of all who made this possible.

A Prayer of Revolt .
The new diffuse militant uprising has been branded an insurgency. The enemy strives for status + recognition. A fundamentalist organization must be able to express itself visually. It's image must invoke fear + hate + pity + reverence + respect. Remember that there is strength in numbers. Uniform is for the army of old. Today's insurgents band together in logo emblazoned 4 color t-shirts, accented with traditional scripted bandanas.
Long gone are the state commissioned depictions of dictators and generals. Now the image of this new force is comprised of revolution-inducing photoshop lens flares + gradients + neon glows + beveled type and flaming backgrounds. I offer this collection here not to lend strength to the message, rather to objectively look at the aesthetics of insurgence.
